Abstract

The limited availability of parking spaces in activity centers often triggers the use of road bodies for on-street parking, which results in reduced road capacity and traffic congestion. The ITB Ganesha Campus, as an academic hub that experienced a 10.3% increase in student enrollment during the 2023–2024 period, faces a similar challenge where internal parking facilities are no longer able to accommodate the volume of private vehicles. This study aims to identify the characteristics of parking services within the ITB Ganesha environment through the aspects of accessibility, management schemes, and student tariff preferences. The research methodology employed a field observation approach within a 400-meter radius of the campus gates, alongside the distribution of questionnaires to student respondents. The sample size was determined using the Slovin formula with a 5% margin of error from a total population of 26,316 students, resulting in a proportional quota of 33 respondents per faculty. Initial data collection from 256 respondents indicates that the educational background is dominated by Undergraduate students (66.8%), with the largest distribution of respondents originating from SAPPK (27.7%), FTSL (18.8%), and FTMD (9.4%). In terms of mobility, motorcycles are the primary mode of transportation owned and used by 44.5% of respondents, followed by cars at 10.9%. The low rate of bicycle ownership (<3%) and the high dependency on motorized vehicles reinforce the urgency of restructuring both on-street and off-street parking facilities to maintain road performance around the educational area.
